I'm Annabel, ​a lifelong reader and the person behind Bound & Co. I read across almost every genre, and I’m incredibly passionate about Australian books, authors and the community that surrounds them.

Bound & Co grew from something I noticed while attending bookish events myself: people wanted to connect, but walking into a room full of strangers isn’t always easy. I wanted to create the kind of experiences I’d feel comfortable arriving at alone - welcoming, relaxed and designed to make meeting people feel comfortable meeting fellow readers.

Before B&C, my career spanned both events and the autism and disability sector, which has shaped the way I think about creating spaces that feel comfortable, considered and welcoming. You’ll find me at the table, wandering a bookstore or probably talking about whatever current obsession I have (currently this is bedazzling books), while quietly keeping an eye out for anyone who might be feeling a little uneasy.

 

Whether it’s dinner with an author, a book crawl or a few days away on retreat, the idea is the same: good books, thoughtful experiences and genuine connection - without the pressure.

And yes, coming solo is always encouraged. Making sure people feel genuinely comfortable arriving on their own is one of my biggest focuses with Bound & Co. From how you’re welcomed and seated to the way activities and conversations unfold, solo guests are considered at every step. You don’t need to bring someone with you to feel like you belong. In fact, that’s kind of the whole point!
